about

Released by Kanal 103 (Stotrojka 006)

Elektro Kultura is the solo project by Vladimir Muratovski Divo - a punk and social poet hailing from the streets of Skopje who has also been a tireless chronicler of the Macedonian underground scene for nearly three decades. In 1992 he records the album “Mirovna poraka” (Peace message) at home, with the help of his friend Zoran Trpkov. An album that has since remained one of the best kept secrets of the Macedonian music scene. Over two decades later, on 24 November 2013, he finally plays his first solo concert live on Radio Kanal 103.

This album contains the live session recorded on “Ako nikoj ne sviri“ radio programme on Kanal 103 and the re-release of “Mirovna poraka“ recorded in 1992.

...

“Savant-garde, almost-sacred, deep - yet narrow. An archaic, repetitive scribble with a hypnotic quality. Skopje’s underground is a cold, lonely place (and the walls are screaming)“

Ivan Kocev (Fuck Yoga Regords)

“Vladimir Muratovski Divo is one of the most authentic characters of Skopje’s subcultural scene and an icon of this city’s rock’n’roll culture in his own right. He comfortably sits in his personal universe made up of Bob Dylan’s lyrics, the cry of Johnny Rotten and the colours of Siouxsie Sioux’s make up. This gentlemen is here to remind us that the only real world out there is the world of music.”

David Angelevski (Pikolomini)

“There are records that walk into your life without knocking and say that they intend to stay. After a couple of weeks, you realise they had always been there. You realise you knew that record already. Not because you’d heard it elsewhere: it’s just that you knew that record before you were born. Those records, for everyone, are rare. Elektro Kultura’s record, for me, is one of those. ...
... He’s a true romantic, Mr. Muratovski, the kind of romantic we really need now: he happily surrenders to big ideas, big melodies, big feelings and all the time stays small, quiet, discreet. “

Flora Pitrolo (A Colder Consciousness)

“Vladimir Muratovski Divo takes us on a walk across the realm of post-punk. Establishing its medieval influences, he flows with wonder at the beauty of the world, both real and metaphysical. He celebrates the advancement of technology and, through his lyrics, he fights evil with all his might. His sincerity is expressed through simple lyricism, a combination of the archaic and the contemporary. The melancholic atmosphere is enhanced with playful electro-pop melodies that make this release pleasant and easy-listening. With his original, authentic expression and the possibility to connect different generations through his music, Vladimir Muratovski Divo takes his place on the pages of Macedonian music history.”

3plusminus

“I’ve known Vlatche for 20 years, and during at least half of that time, when we were riding together on the last bus to Gjorče, he would tell me about the music he’d been recording at Zoki Agresor’s grandma in Magir Maalo. When I finally got the album, I already knew and loved the songs before even hearing them.”

Vasko Atanasoski (Bernays Propaganda)
